Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has brought chatbots to the forefront of educational innovation, offering new possibilities for both teachers and students. This article explores the multifaceted roles of chatbots in education, distinguishing between rule-based and AI-powered models, and examining their applications in tutoring, assessment, language practice, and classroom support. Drawing on recent research, the article outlines how chatbots can reduce teacher workload, personalize learning, and increase student motivation and engagement. It also addresses key concerns, including accuracy, overreliance, ethical implications, and teacher preparedness. Emphasizing the continuing importance of human judgment and pedagogical integrity, the discussion highlights how educators can responsibly integrate chatbot technologies into their practice. Finally, the article proposes directions for future development, including the need for multilingual, culturally sensitive chatbot design and further research into long-term educational outcomes. The findings suggest that, when thoughtfully implemented, chatbots can serve as powerful allies in shaping inclusive and effective 21st-century learning environments.
